A Message From Principal Lynn Sawyer
Welcome Wildcats to Winstead Elementary School. I am so proud to be the Principal at Winstead Elementary School. I am a graduate of the University of Mississippi (Hotty Toddy) where I received my degree in Special Education. I then moved back home to Nashville where my husband and I have raised our three children. My first teaching job was in a private school for children with special needs. I have worked for the WCS system since 1999. After earning my master’s degree in educational leadership from Lipscomb University, I joined the Winstead team as Assistant Principal in 2014; a move that has allowed me to work with precious students, dedicated staff, and caring parents. I am so excited for the school year!
As a school community we value each student and their unique learning journey. The entire Winstead staff is committed to developing the whole child by creating a safe place for everyone to grow. We are committed to creating lifelong learners who work hard, persevere, and develop independent thinking. We believe Winstead is a special place where students learn in a safe and loving family environment. We foster student kindness while actively listening and learning. We know that each life at Winstead makes a difference. We are THE WILDCATS!
I know this is going to be a wonderful school year! The staff and I look forward to working with you guide each student on their learning journey. We welcome your support and involvement as we work together. If you are new to Winstead, I hope to meet you and share what a special place our school is. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Lynn Sawyer, Principal
